Canticle 65
Reading and rereading Job
to find meaning
in justice
ultimately proves enlightening
We’re so quick to cry out
about betrayal
about disrespect
about being outraged
by everything and nothing
deep down
about not being
the center of the world
mainly
about not being taken care of
and that even God
asks us
to be our own heroes
if we need one
and to come
to the aid of others
at least
to shift our focus away from our suffering
and suddenly
become aware again
of our uniqueness
as well as our undeniable
equality in humanity
and to ask ourselves
again and again
how do we define
the love
of God
of oneself
of others
what we are waiting from
the love
of God
of oneself
of others
how to practice more
the love
of God
of oneself
of others
